What’s with the name?

By latinamericantravels

If you’ve ever traveled in Latin America and asked for directions, you know that no local will admit not knowing where something is. They’d rather give you bad directions than shrug their shoulders and claim ignorance. A common response is “Alli no mas” or “just a little bit further”. If you hear this answer, be suspicious. Chances are they have no idea what you’re asking about or where it’s located.

I used to joke with dona Adilia, whom you’ll hear more about in the future, that I wanted to open a restaurant called “Alli no mas”. That way, when someone asked, ‘Where is the restaurant?’ the answer would be “Just a little bit further”, the name of the restaurant. Kinda like “Who’s on first?”
